The Navigator for German Chinese logistics networks is an international research project by the Kühne Foundation Center for International Logistics Networks, Chair of Logistics, TU Berlin and the Chair of International Logistics Networks and Services at Tongji University in Shanghai. The project is is endowed by the Kühne Foundation. Industry partners from three industry types (FMCG, Automotive, Electronics) as well as logistics service providers play an important role in ensuring managerial implication of the project, information exchange and dissemination.

The Kühne Foundation Center for International Logistics Networks was established as part of a long-standing partnership between the Kühne Foundation and the Chair of Logistics at the Technische Universität Berlin. It focuses on the management of global value creation and international logistics networks. Hereby Chinese logistics networks have been a main direction of research. Several studies and dissertations focusing especially on the Chinese environment have been completed. Since 2008 there is a strong cooperation between the Chair for Logistics of TU Berlin and the Center for International Logistics Networks and Services of Tongji University, Shanghai in research and education with joint research projects and exchange of Master and PhD students.

The Kühne Chair of International Logistics Networks and Services was founded by the Kühne Foundation in 2008. The mission of the Chair is to make the chair a well-recognized supply chain/operation management research center, to recruit and teach the students dedicating to supply chain/operation management and to provide training, consulting services to industry for operation excellence.
The research focus of Chair is supply chain performance optimization, contract design for supply chain efficiency improvement and risk control. The Chair works closely with well-known faculties located in Europe, North America and Asia on academic research projects targeting world class supply chain/operation management journal and publication for practitioner. It supports master students, PhD students for primary research associated with industry projects so that the students can apply the knowledge to real world operation and enrich their learning experience.

The Kühne-Foundation has constantly extended its commitment in education and research in the field of logistics. TU Berlin and the Kühne Foundation already have a close and longstanding relationship. In July 2005, the Kühne Foundation Center for International Logistics Networks was founded.
